Backed by more than 50 years of experience and technological firsts, our CALDON ultrasonic metering technology continues to evolve to solve a diverse range of application challenges.
CALDON’s transducer technology, developed for challenging application conditions, has been adapted and optimized for use in high accuracy CO2 applications spanning the liquid and dense supercritical regions of the CO2 phase diagram.
Owing to its non-intrusive, full-bore design and high rangeability, ultrasonic metering technology is ideal for high-capacity applications such as CO2 pipeline transportation and sequestration. The CALDON 500 Series technology provides a significant opportunity for system complexity reduction delivering operational and environmental advantages, such as but not limited to pressure loss and Carbon Equivalence to a significant reduction in the number of potential system leak points. A single-stream ultrasonic metering system can often serve the same function as that of other technologies which rely on multiple streams and or operation at high velocities to achieve the same rangeability.
Where the operator has a desire to avoid depressurization of a CO2 pipeline or deploy expensive “Z” configurations, our SVM 589Ci technology performs a quantitative evaluation of its performance with a live uncertainty output calculated from first principles. This provides the opportunity to increase time between verification intervals or remove this until the meter advises that an intervention may be required.
As application challenges vary with process conditions, operational philosophies, and regulatory requirements, where the latter continues to evolve on a global basis, we have a portfolio of configurations which enable us to address a wide range of application and operational criteria.
